NR010 Revitalizing Communities through Clean Energy and Climate Resilience - Interactive Webinar Training

Community revitalizers cannot ignore the impacts of a changing climate on our communities, evident in increased expenses, disaster preparation and recovery, and a number of other risks. But there are also opportunities to mitigate or adapt to this change, and often to save money in the process. A comprehensive green community revitalization strategy may include:

    (1) Mitigation -- reducing or limiting our communities' contributions to climate change
    (2) Adaptation -- helping our communities respond proactively to climate risks, particularly for low-income communities and communities of color
    (3) Sustainable Development -- ensuring our efforts support rather than threaten communities

This 90-minute webinar will explore how community revitalization organizations can respond to challenging and changing conditions. Participants will consider opportunities related to tax credits for clean energy and electrification, adaptation and weatherization, organizational and business continuity planning, insurance and financial resilience and funding sources.

This faculty-led webinar training will last 90-minutes and include resource materials, check and reflect activities, interactive polling, and participant Q & A with the faculty. A quiz will be open at the conclusion of the session which must be passed in order to obtain a certificate and credit toward continuing education hours. Participants can access the training site upon registration and begin looking at the available resources prior to the live online training session. Participants will complete the quiz and print their certificate immediately after the live session.
