We provide financial capability service providers, financial coaches, rental counselors, homeownership educators/counselors and case workers with key training, technical tools and published reference materials to help their clients achieve financial goals, transition to homeownership or cope with the threat of foreclosure and eviction.

Educational Support: Certifications for Counselors and Educators

Demonstrate your commitment and ability to meet the needs of individuals and families seeking safe, healthy communities and financial security. Certification from the NeighborWorks Center for Homeownership Education and Counseling (NCHEC) shows employers, peers, potential clients and customers that you have mastered a specific knowledge area in the fields of financial capability and housing education/counseling. We currently offer nine NCHEC certifications.

NeighborWorks is committed to developing tools that support impactful and efficient housing counseling and education. We have developed and continue to enhance CounselorMax, the premier tool for real-time tracking and accurate reporting of intake, education and counseling activities. Meanwhile, we are developing an industry-leading new system that will come to market in 2022--NeighborWorks Compass. This user-friendly system--designed by counselors for counselors--will assume much of the administrative burden for practitioners, and will provide functionality that supports sustainable, best-practice counseling work. Client-Focused Support: Consumer Guides for Housing and Financial Capability

Realizing the American Dream and Keeping the American Dream, our user-friendly training tools for pre-purchase and post-purchase homeownership education classes are available in English, Spanish, both Simplified and Traditional Chinese and Vietnamese. We also offer Navigating the Road to Housing Recovery, a free digital resource available in both English and Spanish, for managing financial and homeownership matters in the face of disasters. The resource has state-by-state links and information to quickly connect residents and their counselors to critical and timely information.
