Since the dawn of time, communities have worked in creative and culturally dynamic ways to build, develop, and enliven their spaces and places. But what specifically can creative strategies help you accomplish in your community building work? In this workshop, we will explore six ways that the arts can enhance equitable community development. We will review these concepts and explore examples of how communities enact them across the country. We will work collaboratively with others in the class to creatively share manifestations of arts-engaged work. Finally, we will identify ways that each of us can further integrate the arts into our equitable community building work back at home.
