AM401 Mixed-Income Housing and Community Housing Management: Fundamentals of Property and Resident Services Operations

This course will ground students in a basic understanding of the best practices involved in operating a successful mixed-income housing community. In addition to obtaining a foundation in the property management principles of budgeting, leasing, maintenance and managing a staff, students will also be introduced to sound principles and practices in implementing and integrating property management and resident services that support community residents, spanning from economic to educational, social, and health-related services. There is a field component to the course. Students will visit different housing developments in St. Louis to interview and learn from stakeholders involved with those developments. From this concentrated one-week course, students will leave with a basic understanding of proven strategies and techniques in managing service-enriched mixed-income housing.
